The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service contracted Lyons/Zaremba Inc. to design the interpretive exhibits that orient visitors to six coastal Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuges. Under the Service’s theme “individually unique, ecologically connected,” the exhibits inform visitors about the vital life support network these refuges provide for hundreds of animal and plant speciessome of which are rare and endangered.
Accurate dioramas replicating sandy beaches, rocky shores, and other ecosystems surprise visitors with the state’s diversity of life. Murals and large-scale photography, including a photo-mosaic of the iconic harlequin duck, illuminate the Service’s mission to keep “Wildlife First.”
