After historic Flint River floods in 1994 and 1998, Albany, Georgia began to restore housing, businesses and infrastructure. In addition, the city decided to create an educational center that would focus on the river, its watershed and the region’s unique aquifer system.
Working closely with Antoine Predock Architects, the team created a uniquely integrated solution designed around a spectacular 90' diameter Blue Hole Spring exhibit. As visitors observe the exhibit from a gradually descending pathway that wraps around the spring, they encounter focus exhibits, interactive elements and interpretive graphics that explain the nature of this important watershed, including its flora and fauna.
