Lyons/Zaremba helped the Gulf of Maine Research Institute to create a flexible exhibit and learning center to act as the interface between the public and the science being conducted at GMRI. A combination of large screen multimedia projections, individual computer learning stations, and a six-foot-diameter schooling tank, provide engaging activities.
School groups are the primary focus for GRMI's Public Interface room. The first program being run is the Quest for the X Fish. Students are challenged to conduct their own research into the mysterious X Fish, to discover what it eats, what environment it needs, and what impact it has on the food chain and the fishing industry.
The schooling tank contains hundreds of schooling fish, which students can study via a closed circuit camera and computer interactives.
